Accurate Particle Sizing Using Tunable Resistive Pulse Sensing

Easily determine individual particle size and your real size distribution, with similar accuracy to TEM, in a fraction of the time. You can measure the true sizes of your particles, not the hydro-dynamic diameter that laser based systems measure. The true distribution is automatically provided because a large number of particles are individually measured with high precision and directly compared with traceable calibration particles. There is no subjectivity in Tunable Resistive Pulse Sensing (TRPS), no software guesstimates and no pre-determined distribution profile. Unlike DLS or NTA, you can have complete confidence that your particles sizes and profile are what the instrument provides. TRPS is simple to understand and to apply.

Measure Particles Individually, With Precision

Tunable Resistive Pulse Sensing (TRPS) provides you with high resolution size and concentration data by measuring a large number of individual particles with extremely high precision using impedance. Each particle’s size is automatically compared with a known calibration standard, which provides both precision and certainty. That means you get the true particle size, not a number generated by an algorithm.

Obtain Accurate Concentration Measurements

Tunable Resistive Pulse Sensing (TRPS) is by far the most accurate technique for measuring particle concentration. As with size, the concentration is always derived from direct comparison with calibration particles, providing certainty as well as accuracy. The accuracy, resolution and repeatability of the measurements mean that the usefulness of the particle number is enhanced well beyond providing a single number of particles per mL. Note that, regardless of the technique used, the concentration needs to be defined by the size range covered. The size profile should be presented with the number of particles in each size bin, in histogram format. The detail and repeatability of TRPS concentration measurement allow you to track and control particles through various processes which speeds up your research/development projects. Note that DLS is unable to measure particle concentration at all and NTA is only able to measure it on a semi-quantitative log-scale basis.

Tunable Resistive Pulse Sensing (TRPS), Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA) and Multi-angle Dynamic Light Scattering (MADLS) measurements of quadrimodal sample C (CPN100/CPN150/CPN200/CPN240 at 25/25/25/25). TRPS, NTA and MADLS measurements were averaged over 3 runs. TRPS identifies all four sub populations clearly. NTA was able to identify that multiple sub populations were present. MADLS was not about to identify any sub populations.

Simultaneously Measure Size & Concentration

Tunable Resistive Pulse Sensing (TRPS) is the only technology that can correctly measure individual particle sizes and their concentration at the same time. TRPS uses an elegant pore technology that is quite different and superior to laser based systems. A rich data set is generated which enables a detailed and reliable analysis of the particle set. With the advent of this superior measurement method and the solid data points it provides, researchers can focus on advancing their development and understanding of nano and particularly nano-bio particles.

Standardised real size and concentration data are necessary to show physico-chemical equivalence and to track changes in production methods and output. It is not possible to develop or study nanoparticle systems effectively without this information being routinely available. Only TRPS offers what you need.

The Exoid: Successor of the qNano Gold

The Exoid is Izon’s tunable resistive pulse sensing system. Unlike with the qNano Gold, where parameters were adjusted manually, pressure, voltage and pore stretch are adjusted directly from your Exoid-connected device. Significant hardware improvements reduce noise levels significantly over the qNano, meaning that smaller particles can be measured more reliably. The Exoid also has a clean user interface which provides guidance throughout the setup and measurement process.
