James Ives of the News Medical Life Sciences website recently interviewed Hans van der Voorn about TRPS and its impact on the Life Sciences. Hans gave some frank views on how nanoparticle measurement and data presentation have had to be re-invented for biomedical applications. The limitations of out of date techniques like DLS are no longer the barrier to progress that they have been. Better models are now available for describing particle properties including combinations of particle concentration, single particle size and single particle charge. The need for real measurements, repeatability and sufficient detail to describe the particle systems being developed or utilised are outlined and discussed.
